Warner Baseball – Myers Stacks Cavaliers In Career High 11 K’s; Royals Split Day

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Sophomore Luke Myers racked up a career high in strikeouts this afternoon, finishing his stellar performance in game two of today's double header with 11 strikeouts vs. a highly competitive offense, the Montreat College Cavaliers.

Despite falling in game 1 to the Cavaliers 3-2, Warner was able to rally back and score 9 runs in the 2nd game of today's double header and win 9-4. Both games this afternoon were scheduled for 7 innings.

Luby Fields made his 2nd career start for the Royals in game 1 of the DH this afternoon, pitching 4 innings and striking out 3 batters before being relieved by John Bean.

The Royals trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the 3rd inning but were able to tie the game up 2-2 after Erich Jaquez smacked a double to left center that scored Zachary Balogh and Scott Fickas.

John Bean pitched 3 innings, striking out 2 batters but unfortunately received the loss in game 1 after giving a single to center field in the top of the 6th that allowed, ultimately, the game winning run to score.

Jarrett Joyner took the mound to start game 2 but left the game early and was relieved by Ryan Klingler in only the 2nd inning. Klingler was later relieved in the inning by Luke Myers who took the helm and cruised through 5.1 innings on his way to his 1st career win, striking out 11 Cavaliers in the process.

Scott Fickas and Josh Strickland tallied multiple hits in the game 2 victory; (Fickas 2-4, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Strickland 2-3, 1 run, 2 RBI) with David Torres smashing a 3 run HR to left center to cap off the 9-4 win in game 2.

The Royals will face off against the Cavaliers tomorrow in another double header that is set to start at 12 Noon.
