WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Royals took to the court in the first game to start the new year. After a thrilling second half comeback, Warner fell to the Seahawks 80-82 on a last second foul.
No. 22 Keiser had a handle on the Royals for a majority of the game. The Seahawks entered halftime carrying a 47-38 lead over the Royals.
The second half proved strong for the Royals as they collapsed an 11 point Seahawks lead. With under a minute remaining in the game and the Royals trailing 75-80,
Maxwell Benoit snuck through for a layup and nailed a three pointer to tie the game at 80-80 with 00:22 left on the clock. The Royals were charged with a crucial foul with just a second remaining in the game and it proved costly Jimmy Sylvain knocked down both charity stripe shots for the eventual Seahawks 80-82 win over the Royals.
Jaquez Dickerson finished the game for the Royals with a double-double having 11 points, 10 rebounds and also added a pair of steals and blocks.
Maxwell Benoit mounted up 21 points continuing his reign as the 33
rd best scorer in the nation.
Darryl Mercer hit 7-12 form the field in a precise 18 point effort adding 3 assists.
With the loss, the Royals fall to 13-4 overall and 2-4 in The Sun Conference. The No. 22 Seahawks improve to 13-2 overall and remain as the only undefeated team in The Sun Conference at 5-0.
