LAKE WALES, Fla. - A good battle fell short for the Royals as they dropped a five set thriller to the College of Coastal Georgia.
No more than three points decided each of the five sets that were played. Both teams have a good battle and in the end it was the Mariners that pushed to the top.Â
In the brief history between the two schools the series weighs heavily in favor of the Mariners. The Royals now are just 2-9 all-time against CCGA. The tough Mariners have bested the Royals in an unbeaten seven TSC matchups. The pair went to five sets for the third time in history and the Royals could not pull it off in the end.Â
There were a few bright spots for the Royals last night. Lady Gwendolyn Simpson snuck up the middle and finished the night with 9 kills. TarriAnne Henry continued strong with 9 kills as well. Sydney Ackermann followed suite and nailed down 8 kills on the night.
Three Royals reached double digits in digs, Madison Hughes (12), Alyanna Correia and Aurora Alderman (11). Hughes added her second double-double of the season as she also put up 19 assists.Â
The Royals fall to 1-6 overall and will enter the back half of their schedule with just seven games remaining. They will have a lengthy break in the action until the return with a rubber match against the Mariners this time in Brunswick, GA.Â
