Warner Women’s Basketball – Gantt Hangs 26 On Undefeated Bobcats, Royals Fall Short In Miami Gardens

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Royals struggle against the Bobcats continues as they fell in a tight matchup on the road.
 
The history in the matchup between the Bobcats and Royals heavily favors St. Thomas with the series now standing at 0-24. Tonight's games was one of the closer games in the history of the two squads on the court.
 
It was the first quarter that decided tonight's game, the Bobcats came out strong hitting 4-6 from three-point range and going 9-15 from the field.
 
The Royals won the following three quarters outscoring the Bobcats 53-49 but could not battle back from the first quarter deficit.
 
The Royals may not have been able to overcome the first quarter but showed poise in their climb back throughout the game. Haley Gantt finished with a game leading 26 points on the night hitting 11-13 from the field and 3-4 from three-point range. In just four games play Gantt has amassed 82 points. She also grabbed six boards and 3 blocks. Dianis Hurtado registered a career high 14 points and was given credit to 4 assists. Defensively D'Asia James owned the defensive boards finishing the game with 12 rebounds with 10 defensive grabs. Isabella Lopez had a thrifty 4 steals and 9 points.
 
The Royals fell to the Bobcats who have taken down three straight Sun Conference opponents to remain undefeated.
 
Warner will return home and rally around a three-game home stand with matchups against Columbia International University, Trinity Baptist College and Florida College. So far the Royals hold a 1-1 record in nonconference matchups.
