Warner Baseball – Fire Sweep Royals In Opening Sun Conference Series

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Southeastern Fire remain undefeated in the Sun-Conference after defeating the Warner Royals in a double-header this afternoon. The Royals drop to 5-12 after suffering the two losses today.

Game 1: (WU – 4; SEU – 19)
Luke Myers took the mound in game 1 today for the Royals and threw 3 innings before being replaced by Ryan Klingler, who was relieved by Cameron Cooper after 1 inning. Cooper pitched the remainder of game 1.

Southeastern's offense proved why they are they are the #4 ranked team in the entire NAIA, scoring 19 runs and hitting 7 homeruns.

Devin Frost smashed a double, the only extra base hit for the Royals, and Josh Strickland added some of the explosive offense we have grown used to seeing out of him with a 2 RBI single in the 6th inning.

Game 2: (WU – 10; SEU – 16)
Andrew Yarbrough got the start for the Royals in game 2 of the double-header, pitching 4 innings before being replaced by John Bean III. Bean III was later replaced by Wilson Lorenzo.

The Royals came back strong against the Fire in game 2, showing their offensive fire power with 10 runs and 2 homeruns. Taylor Briggs and Tyler Kreissler each hit a homerun in the game 2 loss.

Warner put together a fine 6th inning where they scored 4 runs and began to make a comeback in the 9th inning, scoring 3 but unfortunately were not able to beat the #4 ranked NAIA team.

Josh Strickland, Trevor Thomas, and Tad Stockowski each had a 2-hit game for the Royals in game 2, and Strickland headlined the Royals offense going 3-8 on the day at the plate with 3 RBI's.
