MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Despite strong efforts and improving in each game, the Royals dropped both games today in their double header vs. the St. Thomas Bobcats.
Game 1: (WU – 3; STU – 11)
Game 2: (WU – 2; STU – 7)
In game 1 of the double header, the Royals jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the 1
st inning but were unable to produce that offensive fire power at a consistent rate and found themselves trailing 8-3 by the bottom of the 7
th inning.
St. Thomas added 3 more in the bottom of the 8
th to make the final score 11-3.
Ryley Rozar started and pitched 2.2 innings before being relieved by
Jake Ratledge.
Ryan Klingler also made an appearance in the game but ultimately the Royals pitching staff was unable to keep the Bobcats off balance at the plate.
Each defense had 3 combined errors this afternoon, which has been a problem so far this season for Warner.
Andrew Yarbrough started the 2
nd game of the double header and the young lefty did a good job of working the St. Thomas hitter for 5 innings before being replaced by
John Bean III.
Scott Fickas led the way for the Royals offensively today, going 3-8 with 1 RBI.
The Royals till have a lot of baseball in front of them and have already gotten their two most difficult conference series over with, so hopefully the team will begin to find a spark and climb their way back into the mix of it all in the Sun-Conference and NAIA.
