MIAMI, Fla. – Royals even up the season with a record of 3-3 after defeating Florida Memorial University with a score of 31-12.
The Royals traveled to Miami Florida on Saturday afternoon to face off against the Lions for the first time in history between these two teams. The Royals came out with vengeance after losing a tough game the week before to St. Thomas University. Warner University had a total of 247 passing yards and a total of 322 yards on offense against the Lions.
Michael Young who has had a great season so far for the Royals threw a total of 37 passes and completed 18 of them. He also threw for three touchdowns against the Lions. The one and only
Trevon Jackson led the Royals with 85 receiving yards.
Kevin Davis was right behind Jackson with 70 total receiving yards. The Royal's defense was on an absolute tear against Florida Memorial.
Xavier Johnson II led the Royals in tackles with 11 and 7 solo tackles.
Ashton Mincey was right behind Johnson with 10 total tackles.
Davis scored the first touchdown of the game for the Royals with a 31-yard pass from Young in the second quarter.
Andre Tommie scored the second touchdown for Warner in the third quarter to take the lead against the Lions. Two minutes later Mincey had a 28-yard pick-six to extend to lead for the Royals 21-6. Fred Robinson in the fourth quarter completed a 10-play drive with a touchdown pass from Young.
The Royals next matchup will be the Homecoming Game against Bluefield College on Saturday, October 16, at 1:00 pm.
