Warner Men's Basketball - Royals Remain Undefeated in the SUN Conference

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Royals remain undefeated in the SUN Conference after playing the Seahawks of Keiser University.

The history between these two teams dates back to 2007 when Keiser was called Northwood University. The Royals improve their record to 12-23, the last time these two teams faced each other was February 13, 2021 where the Seahawks took the win 83-81.

Not only did the Royals play a great game but before the Darryl Mercer was acknowledged for having 1,000 points in his career at Warner University. Mercer fulfilled this accomplishment last season against Southeastern University on January 28, 2021. Due to COVID-19 there was no recognition.

Mercer led the Royals with 28 points in the night, he went 11-18 from the field goal and 4-7 from beyond the arc. Blaize Darling Jr was behind him with 17 points to contribute to the total 86 points scored by Warner. Darling Jr shot 100% from the free throw line, recorded 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Joseph Martz registered 16 points and 6 rebounds, just shy of a double-double.

As a team the Royals had a great night from the free throw line as they shot 92.9%. They scored 30 points in the paint. As a whole they recorded 34 rebounds and 14 assists.

They will travel across the county to play the Fire of Southeastern University for the SUN Conference Game of the Week on Saturday, December 4 at 7:00 pm.
