(23) Warner Men’s Basketball - Royals Regain First Place In TSC With Win Over Thomas

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Warner takes control of first place in the TSC with their win over the Nighthawks and the big upset with Southeastern taking down Ave Maria. 

 

It was senior night for the Royals as parents were allowed in the Turner Athletic Center and gave the Royals a huge boost on their home court. The Royals took care of the Nighthawks 69-53. 

 

Four Royals reached double digits in the point column last night with the 16 point spread over the Nighthawks and regained first place in The Sun Conference.

 

Joseph Martz led the Royals offense with a game high 19 points. Martz was 6-13 from the floor hitting 3-6 from beyond the arc. Josh Glesil finished with 15 points hitting 5-8 from the floor and snagging 7 boards. Darryl Mercer Jr. had a great all-around performance ending the night with 14 points, 5 assists, 6 defensive rebounds and a steal. Rod Boggan was one rebound shy of a double double finishing the night with 11 points and 9 rebounds. 

 

The Royals took the senior night victory holding their largest lead in the game of an 18 point difference in the final minute of play. 

 

Warner regains first place in The Sun Conference with the win over the Nighthawks and the upset victory of Southeastern taking down Ave Maria. A win over Coastal Georgia on saturday will solidify another Royals Sun Conference regular season championship and send the Royals into post season play with a #1 TSC ranking.
