LAKELAND, Fla. – The Royals take one of two games against the Fire. Warner improves their record to 28-14 overall and 12-8 in the Sun Conference.
Game one
Southeastern scored 2 runs in the 2
nd inning to take the lead. In the top of the 3
rd,
Katelyn Richards reached on an error by the third baseman and scored
Kasey Heslin to make the game 2-1 in favor of the Fire. Southeastern scored 1 run in the bottom of the 5
th.
Heslin recorded 2 stolen bases and
Alison Yawn recorded 1 stolen base.
Tiffany Dodson pitched the complete game for the Royals. Her overall record fell to 21-9.
Game two
The first 3 innings were scoreless. In the top of the 4
th,
Jennifer Bryant hit a home run to left field recorded 2 RBIs scoring
Sara Bruno to take the lead 2-0. In the bottom of the 5
th Southeastern 3 runs to take the lead 3-2. In the top of the 6
th, Yawn registered an RBI with a sacrifice fly to left field scoring
Ashton Owen to tie the game. Richards reached on a fielder's choice with a sacrifice bunt listed an RBI scoring
Madison Servo to take the lead once again. Bruno then singled to center field recorded an RBI scoring Heslin to make the game 5-3 Royals up.
The Fire scored 1 run in the bottom of the 6
th inning. In the top of the 7
th, Heslin singled to left field registered 2 RBIs scoring Owen and Bryant to improve the game to 7-4. Southeastern scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the 7
th to end the game with a score of 7-6 in favor of Warner.
Tiffany Dodson threw another complete game and recorded another win to improve her record to 22-9.
The Royals will return home to face the Seahawks of Keiser University on Wednesday, April 28.
