LAKE WALES, Fla. – Royals Classic returns, and the Royals take two wins. One win from Truett McConnell and St. Andrews University.
Day One (August 20)
Royals vs. St. Andrews (25-22, 25-19, 25-20)
The Royals remain undefeated against the Knights. Warner took the win in three sets (25-22, 25-19, 25-20).
TarriAnne Henry,
Hannah Bell, and
Alyssa Muench led Warner offensively with Henry (12), Bell (7), and Muench (6) kills each.
Becca Mack and
Madison Hughes both registered 13 assists each.
Alyanna Correia led the defense with 14 digs and Bell with 5 blocks
Royals vs. Grace (10-25, 17-25, 24-26)
This was only the second time Warner has faced Grace, the last time was in 2014 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Royals won the first set 25-20 and Grace made a comeback to win the next three sets (10-25, 17-25, 24-26).
Henry was the kill leader registering 13 more kills for the day. Hughes recorded 18 assists to which totaled her up to 31 assists on Day one of the tournament. Correia notched 19 more digs in game two for the Royals.
Day Two (August 21)
Royals vs. Truett McConnell (25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 25-23)
Game one for day two went into four sets for Warner against the Bears of Truett McConnell. This was the first time in Warner Women's Volleyball history that these two teams faced each other.
Henry (14), Muench (10), and
Miranda Manduley (8) were the offensive leaders. Once again Correia led the defense with 15 digs. Hughes notched 22 assists in the afternoon against the Ohio natives.
Royals vs. Mobile (25-15, 17-25, 17-25, 16-25)
For the last game of the tournament, the Royals faced the Rams who had been undefeated. The last time these two teams had faced each other was in 2016.
Both Muench and Henry recorded 9 kills each and
Lady Gwendolyn Simpson registered 8 kills.
Savanah Griffin led defensively and notched her career-high with 36 digs in a match.
The Royals will travel to Montgomery, Ala. to play in the Faulkner Invitational Friday, August 27.
