Warner Women's Volleyball Lose A Five Set Thriller Against AMU On The Road

AVE MARIA, Fla - The Royals looked to continue their momentum coming off a big win last week on the road against the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University.

The Royals were looking to continue building on their previous win against Lions, as they took on the Ave Maria Gyrenes. The Royals were on the road but looked very comfortable as they went back and forth against the Gyrenes before pulling away in the first set to win 25-23. Reva Godbolt had a huge game today both on offense and defense for the Royals as she registered 12 kills, with 11 blocks for her first double double of the season and was a spark plug for the Royals throughout the match. The second set was intense as the Royals fought back from a six point deficit to tie the game at 25-25. The Gyrenes would pull away and win the second set 26-28 but the Royals continued to make it difficult for Ave Maria to pull away comfortably. The third set was just as intense as the previous as it once again came down to the wire, with a 25-25 score but the Royals would pull away in this one to give them the 2-1 lead in the match. Karla Rodriguez again was a big part of the Royals offense as she totaled 16 digs, and also had her serve working as she finished with three aces in the match. The Gyrenes narrowly won the fourth set as they would force an intense fifth set against the Royals. Ave Maria would find their groove in the fifth and final set as they started to pull away with the biggest lead of the match and would ultimately complete their comeback against Warner with a final score of 10-15, as the Royals fought hard the entire match, making Ave earn every single point, as they drop to 5-10 on the year. Leah Cooley again had a great game on offense as she tied Godbolt with 12 kills, and senior Becca Mack again did a phenomenal job setting up her teammates as she finished with 32 assists for the Royals.
