Warner Women's Basketball Wins Their Season Home Opener Against The Eagles

LAKE WALES, Fla - The Lady Royals hosted their season home opener tonight against Trinity Baptist in a non conference matchup in Lake Wales, Fla.

Tonight our Women's Basketball team hosted their first home opener tonight and put on a show for the Royal community. This season the Royals are led by Coach Nikki Jessee who is now in her fifth year coaching the Royals and made a statement tonight alongside her players. Leading the Royals tonight we have Courtney Logan at PG, Kalyah Watson at SG, Dianis Hurtado at SF, Jasmine Edwards at PF, and Chyna Bullen at C. The Royals took the court with a slow start to the 1st Quarter and your Royals kept a comfortable lead. They left the 1st Quarter of play 14-8. In the 2nd Quarter of play the Royals begin to heat by finding their basket and producing. In the first half of play the team was shooting 62.5% from the FG with Senior Jasmine Edwards contributing 11 points, and Junior Kalyah Watson who found the open person and facilitated the ball to her teammates and earned 5 assists in this half and 8 points of her own. Going into the 2nd half the Royals kept it rolling with Jasmine Edwards again in the second half dropping off another 14 points. The Royals made a strong impression tonight and we can not wait to see what these Royals have in store for us this season. The ladies Royals take the win 90-51 in a dominant Home Opener.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jasmine Edwards was seen everywhere tonight finding the basket, and lead the scoring with 27 points.
  • Dianis Hurtado had incredible defense tonight as she totaled four steals for the Royals.
  • Kalyah Watson was distributing the ball to her teammates all night as she registered seven asssist in the win.
  • Sierra Moore crashed the boards well as she tied in rebounds with Edwards earning eight rebounds.
