LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals hosted Life University and the Brewton Parker Barons in part of the SUN/SSAC Crossover event.
The Royals looked for an opportunity to start off strong in the tournament as they squared off against Life University. The Royals were led in the first game of the tournament by
Jasmine Edwards and her impressive play as she led the team with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Royals out performed their opponents as they were able to draw fouls giving them chances at the free throw lines as they executed a strong 73%(19-26) throughout the game. The Royals struggled to control the ball as they would lead their opponent in turnovers giving them opportunities to extend a lead against them. The constant tough defense from Life University would pressure the Royals with time winding down in game, giving the Royals a tough deficit as they fell in game 1 of the tournament by a score of 60-76.
Following the tough game one loss, the Royals faced off against Brewton Parker College in game two of their tournament. The Royals started off hot as they outscored their opponents in the first quarter 21-12.
Kalyah Watson was explosive from the three point range as she shot a perfect 2-2 leading the Royals in the first quarter. The Barons were able to battle back and cut the deficit against the Royals.
Dianis Hurtado was aggressive in the paint as she was able to finish the 2nd quarter with five rebounds leading both teams. The score was close heading into the second half with the Royals leading 32-28. Starting off the second half, the Barons would outscore the Royals 19 to 15 in that quarter as they would even up the game at 47 tied. With a tied game heading into the last quarter; the Royals looked to gain momentum and win this back and forth ball game. The 4th quarter was filled with tight defense from both the Royals and the Barons. The Royals would out rebound the Barons in the 4th quarter as
Jasmine Edwards and
Sierra Moore combined for eight of the 11 rebounds in the quarter. However, this tough defense would be strong enough to stop the Royals from being able to come out on top in this game as they would drop this game by a close score of 56-61. The Royals look forward to their next game as they travel to South Carolina and face off against Morris College on November 16th.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
- Jasmine Edwards recorded two double-doubles in as many games for the Royals with a total of 24 rebounds, and 31 points in the Crossover.
- Courtney Logan found her stroke offensively as she led the Royals with 16 points in game two.
- Kalyah Watson was the third Royal with double digit points in game two as she registered ten points, three rebounds, and an assist.
