Warner Women's Basketball Go 2-0 In South Carolina Road Trip

SUMTER, SC - The Royals traveled to Sumter, South Carolina to face Morris College, and Voorhees College in a two day road trip before returning back to Lake Wales.  

The Royals traveled to South Carolina to face off against Morris College. In the first quarter, the Royals outscored their opponents by a score of 16-10. Senior Chyna Bullen led the Royals in the first quarter with a total of six points along with three rebounds. The offense and defense for the Royals were outstanding in the second quarter. The Royals defense limited their opponents from scoring as they limited it to one point in the quarter. Sierra Moore shot perfect in the quarter as she recorded eight points on 4-4 field goal attempts. The Royals defense was strong as it forced 9 turnovers that led to easy offense on the other end. Leading after a strong first half, the Royals looked to capitalize on their 42-11 lead against their opponents. The Royals extended their lead as nine points from Courtney Logan would increase their lead drastically heading into the fourth quarter. The Royals looked to extend their dominant lead by attacking on both sides of the court. Jasmine Cheema recorded nine points on 80% shooting going 4-5 from the field. The Royals dominated on the boards in the fourth quarter as they finished with 14 rebounds. The Royals dominated the entire game pushing the pace and found themselves with the 87-39 victory.
In Day two of the South Carolina road trip the Royals traveled to Denmark to face Voorhees College. In the first quarter of play Jasmine Edwards got the Royals going scoring 7 of the 16 points in the first quarter giving the Royals a lead over Voorhees. Grabbing boards in the 1st quarter Sierra Moore was crashing the boards getting four in the 1st quarter. Going into the second, Jasmine Edwards and Dianis Hurtado were finding the open shots and capitalizing on their opportunities that they were given with Edwards scoring seven points and Hurtado scoring five, crashing the glass as well, with Jasmine earning four and Dianis earning three. Coming back from the half both seniors Jasmine Edwards didn't take her foot off the gas finishing this last half of play with 7 points helping the Royals solidify their lead and earning herself a double-double for the night and winning both games on the road this week leaving tonight with a 57-49 lead.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sierra Moore had a great game against Morris College as she recorded 18 points on 5-7 shooting with six boards.
  • Courtney Logan was everywhere and led the Royals with four steals along with 14 points with three assists
  • Jasmine Cheema recorded 13 points on 6-9 shooting off the bench to spark the Royals offense.
  • Senior Jasmine Edwards had a impressive night leading the Royals in rebounds(13)  and points(20) earning a double-double for the night
  • Dianis Hurtado is the second player to score double digits tonight scoring 10 points tonight with two assists.
  • Jasmine Cheema along with Courtney Logan led in steals combining for four of the seven steals tonight for the Royals.
