Warner Women's Basketball Wins Their Third Straight Against The Nighthawks

LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals hosted the Thomas University Nighthawks as they searched for their third straight win. 

The Royals hosted the Thomas Nighthawks as they searched for an important win. The Royals led the nighthawks 45-34 after a strong first half. Dianis Hurtado led the Royals in the first half as she finished with 11 points while shooting 100% from three. Jasmine Edwards was impressive in the half as she finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. The Royals drew contact and were able to capitalize from the free throw opportunities shooting 10-13. The Royals looked to continue their strong play throughout the first half and looked to continue increasing their lead. At the start of the second half the Royals continued most of the same play. The Nighthawks would make some hafltime adjustments as they would cut down lead late in the game and cut down the Royals lead. Chyna Bullen stood out as she would finish the game with 15 points, two rebounds and three assists. The nighthawks would remain persistent as they would battle back with impressive play on both sides of the court as they forced multiple turnovers allowing them to capitalize. The Royals would play tough defense and be aggressive on the boards as they out rebounded Thomas University in the fourth quarter. Back and forth these two teams were trading blows on offense and defense but nevertheless, the Royals remained aggressive for the remaining minutes of the game as they would take this game by a score of 73-68, to win their third straight and improve their overall record to 4-2.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Jasmine Edwards finished with another double-double, as she led the Royals with her 18 points while recording 16 rebounds. 
  • Senior Chyna Bullen also had a great game scoring as she finished behind Edwards with 15 points, four assists, and two rebounds. 
  • Dianis Hurtado recorded 13 points on 50% shooting, with two assists, and a rebound
  • The Royals had a great game shooting the three ball as they shot just 43% from behind the arc.
