Warner Men's Basketball Lose Their First Game Of The Year On Day Two Of SUN/SSAC Crossover

LAKELAND, FL- The Royals looked for a strong performance in search of back to back wins as they faced off against Middle Georgia State on day two of the SUN/SSAC Crossover.

The Royals coming off a win in their previous game looked to make it back to back wins early on in the season. In the first half of play, the Royals had a great all around performance as they led on points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Logan West was the leading scorer in the first half as he shot 3-5 from the field and recorded nine points in the effort. Blaize Darling Jr led the Royals in steals as he ended up three in the half and in the game anchoring the defense, making his presence felt. The Royals looked to continue this strong all around performance as they held a commanding lead heading into the second half. The Knights made some adjustments and were able to hold the Royals to 24 points in the second half as their tough defense proved to be persistent in trying to prevent the deficit from getting too large. The Royals were aggressive against the tough Knight's defense as they were able to draw fouls and capitalize at the line. The Royals shot 72% from the line in the 2nd half as they were able to continue to find points from the charity stripe. However, the strong defense and explosive offense by the Knights were able to stop the Royals as they would be outscored by 24-46 in the second half. The final score in this game would be 68-76 as the Royals would fall just short in this one to drop their record to 2-1 in the young season.
