Warner Women's Volleyball Falls To The Seahawks In The Sun QuarterFinals

WEST PALM BEACH, FL- The Royals traveled to Keiser University and faced off against the Seahawks in a SUN Quarterfinals matchup.

Coming off an impressive season as they improved all round and making the Sun Conference postseason, the Royals looked to win an important match against the Seahawks. This Sun Conference postseason appearance for the Royals started off strong as they started off set one in a rhythm. Sets 1 and 2 were evenly matched as both teams would go back and forth trading points not allowing either team to get a sizable lead. Senior Karla Rodriguez was aggressive throughout all these sets as she recorded 20 digs setting her collegiate record to an impressive 1500 digs. The Royals were led by Christina Marrero's 12 kills in this matchup. Both sets were back and forth but the Seahawks would jump out to a commanding two to nothing lead as they took both sets by a score of 25-20. With their backs against the wall, the Royals came out hot and running in the third set. The Royals would come out strong as they would take set three by a score of 25-20, giving them momentum in the latter part of the match. The Royals would look to battle back and complete the comeback against the Seahawks. The Royals and Seahawks would continue to go back and forth on both sides on the court; but the Seahawks would take the fourth and final set by a score of 25-23. The Royals had a great season as they improved all around this season clinching a Conference appearance and fighting till the end, the Royals finished with an overall record of 7-15 and look to continue to improve as a program with a young core gaining postseason experience.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Senior Karla Rodriguez anchored the defense again as she recorded 22 digs in the match for the Royals, bringing her collegiate career total to over 1500. 
  • Imar Laboy did a stellar job helping her teammates to attack as she finished with 28 assists against the Seahawks
  • Junior Faith Rendeiro recorded nine blocks for the Royals
