Warner Women's Basketball - Edwards' Perfect Night Leads Royals Over UFTL

LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals faced off against the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles in a non-conference game in Lake Wales, Fla.

This was an exciting game as the Royals and the Eagles would trade blows back and forth throughout the game. The Royals were led by great performance from Jasmine Edwards as she shot a perfect 12-12 from the field while recording a double double with 11 rebounds. The Royals were aggressive, drawing fouls and getting to the line; which they capitalized on the free throw opportunities, shooting 21-24. The defense from both teams was a big stand out as both teams finished with 3 total blocks while combining for 13 total steals throughout the game. Jasmine Cheema was a spark plug off the bench as she came into the game and hit some big threes for the Royals to jumpstart their offense in the first half. The eagles got a big time performance from Esther Joseph as she finished with 34 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams went back and forth as they would prevent either side from getting a sizable lead. The Royals out rebounded their opponents 37-26 along with 12 offensive rebounds allowing for second chance points to be a big part of their win. Back and forth the game went, but your Royals would come out in front in this seesaw battle by a score of 81-72. Courtney Logan continues to be a menace on defense leading Warner with four steals allowing for easy fastbreak points. Logan also finished behind Edwards with 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists.The Royals look to keep this momentum going as they host Cumberland University on December 14th as a part of the Warner Classic.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Jasmine Edwards recorded another double double, her sixth of the year finishing  and could not miss, with 34 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 100% going 12-12 from the field and shooting 100% from the charity stripe going 10-10. 
  • Courtney Logan finished behind Edwards in scoring as she totaled 12 points, with four rebounds, four assists, and continues to be a defensive menace for the Royals as she had a team high four steals.
  • Jasmine Cheema was a huge spark off the bench as she shot 50% from the field and from behind the arc, as she registered 10 points and four assists.
  • The Royals shot a a stellar 87.5% from the charity stripe.
