LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals faced off Missouri Baptist University in a home non-conference matchup in Lake Wales, Fla.
This game featured a strong offensive showing from the Royals that saw four players eclipse double-digit scoring. The visiting Spartans battled throughout the game but were ultimately unable to slow down Warner's efficient shooting.The Royals shot 45.5% from the field, 47.4% from behind the arc, and 81% from the charity stripe. The Royals were aggressive on the boards tonight, out-rebounding the Spartans 36-32, while drawing 21 shots from the free point line. The Royals managed to knock down 18 of these shots and capitalized on second chance points with eight. Both teams limited points off turnovers with the Royals and Spartans scoring 11 and 20 respectively. The Royals were led by
Blaize Darling Jr who tallied 15 points in the contest to go along with seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Darling Jr. also went a notable 9-11 from the line.
Jamal Norris also played a large role in the contest, notching 15 points on 62.5% shooting and four made three-pointers. Blocks were hard to come by for both teams, as only four were recorded in the game. Instead, both teams relied on paint efficiency, and drawing fouls. Missouri Baptist University got a great performance today from Keyyaun Batchman who scored 20 points on 50% shooting from the field. He also contributed six rebounds, four assists, and a couple steals.
Josh Glesil recorded his first double-double of the season and continues to be an important player on both sides of the ball for the Royals. Warner took care of business at home today 76-65 and continued a hot stretch, where they have won six of their last seven games. The Royals look to kick off the new year with a win next Saturday (January, 6th) when they travel to Florida Memorial University for a Sun Conference matchup against the Lions.Â
