Warner Women's Basketball Secures Close Victory Against The Mariners

BRUNSWICK, GA- The Royals traveled to College of Coastal Georgia as they faced off against the Mariners in a Sun Conference game on the road.

The Royals looked to steal a victory as they visited the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners looking to extend their winning streak to two games. In the first half, the Royals were aggressive as they put up thirty shots but were only shooting 26% in the first half, however they remained aggressive in the second half and shot an impressive 52% from the field. Courtney Logan had a great performance as she finished with 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and was a glove on defense as she ended up with four steals throughout her 33 minutes of play. The Royals were persistent throughout the entire game as they recorded seven steals and were able to capitalize to score nine points on turnovers. Dianis Hurtado finished with 15 points, four rebounds, an assist and shot 40% from the 3 point line in her team leading 39 minutes of play. The Royals and the Mariners would continue going back and forth in this one as there were a total of six lead changes along with the game being tied five times throughout. With time winding down and the Royals up by four, Jasmin Worsley would bring the Mariners down by two. The Royals would play tough defense, preventing a game tying mid range jump shot from Harden allowing Jasmine Edwards to get her 9th defensive rebound securing the victory for the Royals by a close score of 70-68. The Royals extended their winning streak to two games and are looking for their third win in a row as they face off and host the Southeastern University Fire on January 27th at 2:00 PM.
