LAKELAND, FL - The Warner University Royals women's soccer team faced a tough challenge against the Southeastern Fire in a SUN Conference showdown. Despite a spirited comeback, the Royals were narrowly defeated 3-2 by the Fire.
Southeastern took an early advantage, finishing the first half with a 2-0 lead, thanks to goals from Madelyn Davidson and Gaia Iacuzzi. The Royals, however, mounted a strong second-half comeback with
Jillian Johnson scoring twice to level the score. The game took a dramatic turn when Izzy Tomlin of Southeastern scored the winning goal, handing Warner a heartbreaking loss.
Jillian Johnson's standout performance, which included a double goal and earning a yellow card, was a highlight for the Royals. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to secure a victory.
Martina Duque, Warner's goalie, played a crucial role throughout the game.
The Royals will look to bounce back in their next game scheduled for October 30 at the Royals Soccer Field in Lake Wales, FL, where they will take on the New College Banyans. Warner's current record stands at 3 wins, 9 losses, and 1 draw for the season.
