LAKE WALES, Fla - The Royals hosted Florida National University looking for their tenth win of the season.
Coming off a weekend where the Royals took three out of four against Spring Arbor, they looked for a midweek win against the visiting Conquistadors. The Royals, who had a strong performance from their offense continued their hot bats in this game. The Royals tied the game at two in the bottom of the first thanks to
Luis Cedeno and
Diego Guevara. Guevara followed smart baserunning from Cedeno with an RBI single bringing in Carlos Vincente. After surrendering another run in the second, the Royals would breakthrough scoring 4 in the third inning. The Royals notched their first two in the inning thanks to sacrificial at bats from
Mason Neller and Carlos Vincente.
Pablo Delgado would do the most damage however, driving in two runs with a stand up double. The Conquistadors would battle back in this game as their offense would rally back to bring the game within one going into the fifth inning. The Royals pitching would wake up however, as
Wagner Martin and
Brock Joyce would combine to throw four scoreless innings out of the bullpen. The Royals would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the 8th thanks to RBI singles from John Malcolm and JJ Gonzalez. Going into the top of the 9th inning, Warner sent out Jeffery Almanzar to close the game in save fashion. The Conquistadors didn't go down without a fight as they would load the bases with one out. After giving up a pair, Almanzar would close the game out, giving the Royals an 11-10 victory over Florida National. Freshman Wagner Hamilton picked up his first win on the mound, along with Almanzar pick up his first save. The Royals look forward to this weekend as they face off against University of Fort. Lauderdale in a 3-game series starting on February 23rd, at 6:00 PM.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
- Diego Guevara went 3-5 at the plate, driving in a run along with stealing two bases.
- Pablo Delgado notched a couple hits in the contest, with one being a big two RBI double in the bottom of the fourth.
- Carlos Vincente had a great offensive performance going 2-5 with two singles, two RBI's and two runs scored.
- Brock Joyce was lights out on the mound, throwing two scoreless innings in relief for the Royals.
