Warner Softball Splits Doubleheader At Home Against The Pioneers

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAKE WALES, Fla - The Lady Royals host Point Park University from Pennsylvania for a double header on Daly Field.

In this first matchup the Royals and Pioneers were in a dog fight. Both teams lost their last two games and both teams are looking to fix their records early on. After a loss to Grand View University the Royals came out with a chip on their soldiers. The pitcher on the mound this afternoon was the Sophomore pitcher Allie Hughes. Allie Hughes led the Royals defense tonight delivering on the mound only one run in her showing with four strikeouts. In six innings she pitched she only allowed one run keeping the Royals close in this matchup. The pioneers broke the ice in this series scoring one first run of the night putting them on the board. Right after being down 1-0 in the top of the 6th. The senior Jordan Moore steps up to the plate and finds the perfect pitch and capitalizes with a runner Tyler Mooring on base and scores a two RBI home run bringing us back in the match 2-1 . It wasn't enough as the Pioneer got hot scoring on a double play bringing them back allowing them to take those one in the 7th 2-3.

As the Royals lost a close game in the first part of the double header they came back with Madlyn Morton on the mound to start the second game. The Royals had a cold start allowing two runs early on in the top of the first but Jordan Moore who was at 1st base this game outside of her normal catcher position gets the Royals on the board with an RBI double to center field scoring Raelyn Roland and bringing the deficit to half. After a slow first Tyler Mooring came in to throw for the Royals and dominated on the mound only allowing a run in the three innings and giving the offense a chance to get hot. In the third inning of play Graduate Student Andrea Rebello found a RBI double to right center field, scoring April Dominguez and then shortly after Raelyn Roland found a perfect pitch and capitalized 2 RBI home runs to bring the score 4-3 and bring up the lead. In the 5th through 6th inning the Royals bats were hot as Grace Derstine 2 RBI double to left centerfield, Autumn Calcagno finds an RBI single to right field, and Raelyn Roland with a sacrifice line out to center field to score the final run of the night April Dominguez for a Royal victory 8-3 and splitting the series with the pioneers.
