LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals faced off against Mount Vernon Nazarene in double-header action on Wednesday afternoon.
In game one, the Royals sent out their star pitcher
Madalyn Morton to pick up an early afternoon win. Warner started off sluggish as they would surrender three runs in the first inning, with only two being earned. The Royals would respond quickly, however, as
Jordan Moore would drive in their first run of the game with an RBI single. After two scoreless innings from both teams, Warner got the bats going in the bottom of the fourth. Following three straight singles to kick off the inning,
Raelyn Roland came through in a big way, knocking in two runs with a single. Roland would then steal second leading the way for
April Dominguez to score on an throwing error. The Royals were not done there, as
Tyler Mooring and
Grace Derstine capped off the inning with two additional RBI singles. Morton, despite a rocky first inning, kept the visiting Cougars in check, throwing five strong innings for the Royals. The Cougars would try and mount a comeback in the top of the 5th, as they followed a lead-off single with a two-run homerun to pull the game within one.
Allie Hughes threw a scoreless 6th and 7th inning to secure the win for the Royals. The Royals win game one of the double-header 6-5.
Raelyn Roland had a great game one for the Royals, as she would finish two for four, with a couple singles, and two RBIs.
Kicking off game two of the double-header, the Royals gave the starting pitching nod to
Tyler Mooring in hopes of winning back-to-back. The Royals would get off to a quick start in the first inning thanks to a

Samantha Berube double. The following two innings, the Royals would score three more in large part to RBIs from Derstine, Berube, and Mooring. The Cougars bounced back in the top of the 4th, scoring a near game-tying six runs. Warner brought back out Morton in game two, and she delivered a four inning, six strikeout save for the home team.
