Warner Baseball Drops First Two Games To The Fire

LAKELAND, FL-  The Royals traveled to Southeastern University as they faced off against the Fire in a doubleheader series to begin Sun Conference play.

    In game ones, the Royals sent out Noah Harsch who held a 2-0 record on the season. The Royals found themselves quickly trailing in the first inning as a single into left field bringing in the first run of the game. In the bottom half of the 3rd and the 4th, the Fire would strike again as in the 3rd Castillo would strike for a two run home run homer and Nunez would hit a two run home run as well in the next inning. Trailing 5 to 0, the Royals looked to try and muster a comeback. Luis Cedeno would ground out to third base as Chris Fergueson would score, bringing in the first run of the game for the Royals. However, in the bottom of the sixth inning; the Fire would continue to have an offensive explosion as they brought across 8 runs in the inning coming in on multiple doubles, singles, and good pitch selection bringing their score to 14. The Royals would fall in a tough game one by a score of 1 to 14.

    After the loss in game one, the Royals looked to start off strong as they sent out Logan Hewitt as they looked to take game two on the road. J.J Gonzalez would put the Royals on the board with a single into left field. In the top half of the second inning. However, The Fire would pick up steam from where they left off in game one as a single up the middle as they would take the lead in the second inning. In the bottom of the third, a double play would bring in their third run of the game and in the bottom half of the fifth, a two run home run by Castillo would extend the lead by a score of 5 to 1. The Royals would continue to play hard but would fall in game two by a score of 5 to 1.  The Royals look to bounce back as they face off against the Fire for the final two games of the series starting on Saturday March 23rd at 12:00 PM.

  • Diego Guevara would go 3-3 in the game one loss for the Royals.
  • Ian Anderson went 1-3 with a double and would score in the game two loss.
  • Logan Hewitt would pitch a complete game in game two as he finished with one walk, and nine strikeouts.
