Warner Softball Takes One Game Against CCGA In Home Conference Series

LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals looked to defend their home field advantage as they hosted a three game series against College of Coastal Georgia.

In game one, it was a strong pitching matchup as Madalyn Morton would face off against Bryce Peacock. Both teams would be scoreless up until the top of the third inning where Peacock would hit a two run home run to jump out to a two to nothing lead. The Mariners would score two more in the top half of the fourth and take a 4 to nothing lead. The Royals would put the ball in play but wouldn't be able to get the ball to find gaps or the holes in the field. The Royals fought hard throughout all seven innings however would fall in game one by a score of 4 to nothing.

Following the shutout loss in game one, the Royals looked to take a game two victory.  Two out hits would be very critical in this one as the Royals would have 6 hits with two outs in this game. The Royals took a lead in the bottom of the second inning as Samantha Berube would be aggressive, bringing in two runs via an error by the Mariners shortstop. Morton would get the start and continue to have good back to back starts in the series and the Royals would look to add more insurance runs. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Royals started off with a bang as Raelyn Rolan would hit a home run to left field bringing the lead to three to nothing. The Mariners would get on the board in the sixth inning as Peacock would hit her second home run of the day but that would be all the Mariners would be able to come up with in this game as the Royals take game two by a score of 3 to 1.

In the third and final game of the series, the Royals honored their two seniors;  Catcher Jordan Moore and First Baseman Gaige Timson for all their efforts throughout their time at Warner; as they looked to take the final game of the series against the Mariners. It was a rematch of the pitching probables from game one as Morton and Peacock would face off yet again. The Mariners would strike first as they would rally in the third inning as three singles from Peacock, Mills, and Batts would give a 3 to nothing lead. The Royals would score in the bottom of the third inning as Tyler Mooring had an infield single to the second baseman putting the Royals on the board. The Royals had a strong work ethic and fought hard throughout the game, but would fall in the third and final game by a score of 3 to 1.
