LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals hosted a four game series against their Crooked Lake rivals from Webber International University as they looked to take the series.
Game one started off with a strong pitching performance from
Brock Joyce. Joyce pitched a strong 8.1 innings allowing 3 runs and 2 strikeout and let his defense work and back him up. The Royals found themselves trailing by 1 heading to the 4th inning. A pickoff attempt thrown into the outfield tied the game up at one a piece.
Carlos Vicente would give the Royals the lead in the 5th inning, as he would single through the left center gap allowing the Royals to take a 2 to 1 lead. Heading into the ninth inning, the Warriors would take the lead in the top of the ninth inning due to multiple extra base hits and an error allowing them to extend their lead and take the game one victory by a score of 5 to 4.Â
After the game one loss, the Royals sent out
Logan Hewitt looking for a game two victory. Hewitt was everything that the Royals were looking for as he would pitch a complete game giving up three runs and striking out 6 warrior hitters. The Warriors would get a strong offensive performance from Milliner as he homered and singled and had two RBI's in the game. A strong performance on the mound from the Warriors' Taylor and very little offense from the Royals would cause this game to finish 4 to 0 as the Royals would drop this one.
After two losses in the first games of the series, the Royals looked to take the third game of the series. The Warriors would continue the strong offense from the last game as they would haveÂ
Four extra base hits in this one such as a home run, doubles, and triples putting pressure on the Royals. The Royals trailed 10 to nothing as they headed into the bottom of the ninth. The Royals would bring in runs as Vicente would single, scoring in two Royals hitters,
Triston Devane singled and was followed by a
Diego Guevara sacrifice fly. The Royals showed late game fight but would fall in game three by a score of 10 to 4.Â
After dropping the first three games, the Royals looked to avoid the 4 game sweep. The Royals got a strong pitching performance from
Cauy Massner as he would pitch 7 strong innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 7 batters in this outing.
Kayden Anderson would give the Royals an early lead in the 2nd as he would single up the middle bringing in Fergueson. The Royals would give up three runs in the third inning as Neveker would double to center field, clearing the bases. The Royals battled back in the bottom of the third inning as Chisenhal would single, scoring in
Luis Cedeno and
J.J Gonzalez would single down the right field line giving the Royals a two run lead. The Royals would get one more run in the 7th as Anderson would hit a sacrifice fly pushing a three run lead. The Royals would avoid the sweep and win game 4 by a score of 6 to 3. The Royals travel to Ave Maria to face off against the Gyrenes and gear up to finish up their season starting on April 26th.
