LAKE WALES, FL - The Royals opened their SUN Conference campaign with a challenging game against Ave Maria Gyrenes. The event took place at Royals Soccer Field on September 18, 2024, but despite a strong start, the Royals fell to the Gyrenes with a final score of 1-3.

Warner University got off to a promising start with Jillian Johnson putting the Royals ahead in the 5th minute, marking the season's first goal. Her remarkable efforts throughout the game included several pivotal corner kicks, underlining her significant role in the match. The Royals maintained this lead into halftime, holding a 1-0 advantage over Ave Maria.

However, the second half saw a turnaround as Ave Maria leveled the score. The Gyrenes then added two more goals, including the game-winning goal. The goalkeeper for Warner was Martina Duque. 

The Royals, whose record now stands at 3-1-1, look to recover from this defeat in their next outing against the Webber International Warriors in Babson Park, FL, on September 21, 2024.
