THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Warner University Men's Basketball team opened the 2025-26 season on the road Thursday night in a thrilling overtime matchup against Thomas University, narrowly falling 85-84 to the Night Hawks. Despite a strong offensive effort led by veteran guard Jack Voth, the Royals came up just short in the extra period.
Both led all scorers with 28 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the field, 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, and converting 13-of-14 free throws. His consistency at the line and ability to create offense kept Warner in contention throughout the contest.
On the boards, Josh Irwin anchored the Royals' rebounding effort with a game-high 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. Warner showed grit on both ends, battling through a physical matchup that saw several lead changes in the final minutes.
Running the offense efficiently, Seth Childers dished out eight assists while also leading the defensive effort with three steals. Akeem Dauphin and Both each recorded a block as Warner's defense held strong in key moments to force overtime.
As a team, Warner shot 41.9% from the field (26-62), connected on nine three-pointers (9-24), and went 23-of-34 from the free throw line.
Despite the narrow loss, the Royals showcased poise and determination in their season debut. Warner looks to carry that energy forward as they continue their early road stretch.
