TIFTON, Ga. – The Warner University Women's Basketball team wrapped up play in the ABAC Tip-Off Classic on Saturday afternoon, falling to Thomas University 50–41 in a defensive battle. The Royals showed grit and hustle throughout, keeping the contest close despite shooting struggles from the floor.
Leading the charge for Warner was Aleyna Sherman, who tallied 11 points on 3-of-11 shooting, including 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Sherman also led the team with 3 steals, providing an energetic spark on both ends of the floor.
On the boards, Carissa Marthy was dominant, pulling down 11 rebounds (3 offensive, 8 defensive) to pace the Royals' efforts in the paint. Marthy, along with Julia Gilbert, Samaria Sims, Lacienega Crockett, and Alexis Randall, each contributed one assist, distributing the ball effectively against the Night Hawks' defense.
Despite shooting just 21% from the field (13-62), the Royals fought to stay within reach, connecting on 28.6% (4-14) from beyond the arc and 61.1% (11-18) from the free throw line. Warner's defensive presence limited Thomas throughout much of the game, forcing turnovers and keeping the contest within single digits.
