LAKELAND, Fla. – The Warner University Football team faced a tough Sun Conference test on Saturday night, falling 42–9 to Southeastern University at Victory Field in Lakeland. Despite the final score, the Royals showed determination throughout, finding success in key offensive drives and continuing to see strong leadership from several underclassmen.
Warner opened the scoring late in the first quarter when Ethan Silva connected on a 26-yard field goal to cap an 11-play, 67-yard drive that controlled over seven minutes of possession. The Royals' offensive line established the tone early, allowing quarterback Gavin Nurmi to find rhythm and freshman running back Jamarian Robinson to grind out tough yards against a physical Fire defense.
After falling behind in the second half, Warner continued to battle. The Royals struck again in the fourth quarter when Nurmi engineered a 12-play, 80-yard drive that was capped by a 7-yard touchdown pass to Trevarus Walker, trimming into Southeastern's lead. Carlos Witherup paced the receiving corps with six catches for 65 yards, while Nurmi finished the night completing 12 of 17 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown.
On the ground, Robinson led the rushing attack with 62 yards, showing patience and power against a disciplined defensive front.
Although Warner was unable to close the gap, the team's sustained offensive drives and late-game execution demonstrated continued growth heading into the final stretch of the season.
"We competed from start to finish," said Warner Head Coach [Insert Coach's Name]. "Our guys showed heart tonight. We executed a few really good drives, and those are the moments we'll build on moving forward."
Warner will look to bounce back next week as the Royals continue Sun Conference play and return home to Lake Wales.
