RECAP: Royals Battle in SUN Conference Opener, Fall 55-46 to Florida Memorial

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner Women's Basketball opened SUN Conference play at home on Wednesday evening, putting together a strong defensive effort but ultimately falling 55–46 to Florida Memorial inside the Turner Athletic Center. The Royals remained within striking distance throughout, but a late push by the Lions proved to be the difference.

Aleyna Sherman led Warner with 10 points, shooting 3-of-9 from the field and 2-of-4 from deep while going a perfect 2-for-2 at the free-throw line. She added 4 rebounds and 2 assists, delivering a steady performance on both ends of the floor.

Carissa Marthy anchored the rebounding effort once again, pulling down 7 boards (4 offensive, 3 defensive) to help generate second-chance opportunities. Bethany Howard joined Sherman with 2 assists, while Lacienega Crockett led the defensive charge with a game-high 5 steals, sparking several transition opportunities for the Royals.

As a team, Warner shot 32% (16-50) from the field and 35% (7-20) from three-point range. Despite creating quality looks from the perimeter, the Royals were unable to capitalize consistently at the foul line, finishing 7-of-16 (43.8%).

Though unable to secure the win, Warner's defensive intensity and improved ball movement offer momentum as the Royals continue SUN Conference play.
