KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Warner Men's Basketball opened competition at the NAIA "The Show" Tournament on Saturday afternoon, battling back from a halftime deficit but ultimately falling 79–71 to Campbellsville University. The Royals showed resilience throughout, outscoring the Tigers 44–42 in the second half after trailing 37–27 at the break.
Bryson Castillo led Warner with a dynamic offensive performance, totaling 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting while going 5-of-6 at the free-throw line. Castillo also added 2 steals, fueling several second-half scoring stretches.
Jamal Norris delivered a strong interior presence, securing his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, controlling the boards and providing key buckets in Warner's second-half push.
Seth Childers continued to orchestrate the offense effectively, recording 6 assists along with 2 steals, guiding the Royals' improved second-half tempo.
As a team, Warner posted one of its most efficient shooting performances of the season, hitting 49.0% (25-51) from the field and converting 83.3% (15-18) from the free-throw line. The Royals also knocked down 6-of-21 (28.6%) from beyond the arc. Despite the strong offensive rhythm after halftime, Campbellsville's early lead proved difficult to overcome.
Warner now looks ahead to Day Two of the NAIA "The Show" Tournament, where the Royals will face IU East on Sunday, November 30 at 11:00 AM.
