HIALEAH, Fla - The Royals lost their first game this month in a close battle at Florida National University, falling 64-60. Despite the loss the Royals were able to continue to produce strong individual and team performances as they work towards restarting conference play next month.
Aleyna Sherman announced her return to the court Friday in a big way, leading the Royals in scoring with
15 Points on 6 made baskets and going 2-4 from the FT line. Sherman also recorded
8 Rebounds, 4 Assists and
2 Steals in another all around performance by the Junior.
The Royals also saw strong performances fromÂ
Julia Gilbert andÂ
Chanelle Harrison.Gilbert scored
14 points, 9 of which came from beyond the 3PT line (3-10, 30% 3PT%), and recorded
9 Rebounds in Friday's match-up. Harrison scored her personal season best with 13 points
(5-8, 62.5% FG%)Â while also securing
3 Rebounds and recording
1 Steal in today's game versus the Conquistadors.Â
Warner shot
21-60 (35.0% FG%) overall and
4-16 (25.0% 3PT%) from beyond the arc. The team also went
14-26 (53.8%, FT%) from the FT line and recorded
49 Rebounds over the course of the game. The Royals continue to show their dominance and strength attacking the basket scoring half of their points,
30, inside the paint on Friday night.
The Royals will look will look to bounce back next week when they host Truett McConnell University and Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) in the Warner Classic.
