TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – Warner Men's Basketball turned in a strong road performance on Friday afternoon but came up just short, falling 75–73 to Florida College in a tightly contested matchup. The Royals battled to the final possession, highlighted by a career-best scoring effort from Bryson Castillo.
Castillo poured in a new career-high 26 points, shooting 11-of-19 from the field while also grabbing a career-high 9 rebounds, leading Warner on both ends of the floor. He finished a perfect 2-for-2 at the free-throw line.
David Darling matched Castillo on the glass, pulling down a career-high 9 rebounds of his own, as the duo helped anchor Warner's presence in the paint throughout the afternoon.
In the backcourt, Seth Childers orchestrated the offense with a team-high 8 assists and added 2 steals, while Marcel Pace chipped in a career-high 2 steals to fuel the Royals' defensive effort.
As a team, Warner shot 44.3% (27-61) from the field and 72.7% (16-22) from the free-throw line. Despite creating quality looks throughout the contest, the Royals were unable to capitalize consistently from beyond the arc, finishing 3-of-19 (15.8%) from three-point range.
Despite the narrow defeat, Warner's poise and execution on the road provide momentum heading into the next matchup.
