PREVIEW: Men's Basketball Returns Home to Face Mitchell College and Mount Vernon Nazarene University (OH)

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Royals Men's Basketball returns to the Turner Athletic Center this week for a 2 game homestand as they host Mitchell College on Thursday followed by Mount Vernon Nazarene Univeristy (OH) on Friday. This will be the first time the Royals face off against Mitchell College and their 2nd ever meeting with Mount Vernon Nazarene University (OH). 

 Warner is looking to end 2025 on a high note after a hard fought battle at Florida College last week.
 

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Warner:

Bryson Castillo - Sophmore Guard: Castillo is coming off his best performance of his Collegiate career last Friday against Florida College. Castillo finished with new career highs scoring 26 points and securing 9 rebounds. Catillo has scored 20 or more points in 5 games so far this season and leads the Royals in points scored this season with a total of 186, averaging 15.5 PPG.

David Darling - Sophmore Guard: Darling is also coming off a career night where he secured a career best 9 rebounds and tallied 11 points for the Royals against Florida College. Darling is also looking to keep his double digit point steak alive after scoring 10 or more in his last 3 games. 

Mitchell College:

Troy Butler - Junior Guard: Butler leads the Mariners this season in scoring with 175 total points, averaging 19.4 PPG.  He is also 2nd on the team in both total Steals, 14, and Assists, 24.

Abdul Mansaray - Sophomore Forward: Mansaray is 2nd in scoring for the Mariners with a total of 152 points scored, averaging 15.2 PPG, with a 52.5% FG%. The Sophomore has also managed to do so without shooting a single 3 pointer this season, scoring exclusively from inside the 3 point arc and on the FT line.   


Mount Vernon Nazarene University (OH):

Isaiah BrownSophomore Forward: Brown leads the Cougars in scoring this season with 246 total points, averaging 20.5 PPG, with a 54.9% FG% and 34.8% 3PT%. The Sophomore has recorded 14 Steals, 29 Assists and 53 Rebounds for MVNU so far this year. 

Peyton Heiss - Sophomore Guard: Heiss is second is scoring for MVNU with 199 total points, averaging 16.6 PPG, going 49.6% from the field and 45.3% from beyond the 3 point arc. The Guard leads the team in rebounds and steals recording 85 and 21 respectively.
