LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner Men's Basketball returns home on Saturday, January 3rd, welcoming the Falcons of Florida College to the Turner Athletic Center for a 4 p.m. tipoff. The matchup marks the second meeting between the two programs this season and sets the stage for a highly anticipated rematch after a narrow decision earlier in December.
In the first meeting on December 12th in Temple Terrace, the Royals came up just short in a heartbreaking loss decided by a last-second buzzer beater. Despite the result, Warner matched up well statistically, shooting 44.3 percent from the field compared to Florida College's 42.6 percent. The difference came beyond the arc, where the Falcons connected at a 29.4 percent clip while Warner shot 15.8 percent from three-point range.
The Royals were solid at the free throw line, knocking down 72.7 percent of their attempts, just shy of Florida College's 77.8 percent. On the glass, the Falcons held a 46–39 rebounding advantage, an area Warner will look to improve upon in the home rematch.
Defensively, Warner was active in the passing lanes, recording seven steals while committing just six turnovers. Florida College finished with 10 turnovers and six steals in what was a tightly contested, physical battle from start to finish.
Saturday's contest gives the Royals an opportunity to respond on their home floor, where energy and familiarity with the Turner Athletic Center could play a key role. With lessons learned from the first matchup, Warner will look to flip the script and close out strong against a Florida College squad that needed every second to secure the win last time.
Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 3rd, inside the Turner Athletic Center. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Royals as they look to earn redemption in this season's second meeting with the Falcons.
