MOBILE, Ala. - The Royals fell on the road in a back-and-forth game against the University of Mobile (AL) Rams, 62-54, in a matchup that saw 14 ties and 14 lead changes.
The two evenly matched teams found themselves going blow for blow in a fast paced 1st half seeing the teams tied at the end of both the 1st quarter, 19-19, and entering halftime 35-35. Each team was able to find their footing defensively slowing scoring down in the 2nd half, but foul trouble would hurt the Royals momentum leading to the Rams finding the edge late in the game.
Bethany Howard led the way for the Royals on the scoreboard with a game high
20 points, going
9-17 from the field and 2-4 from the FT line. Howard was also able to secure
3 Steals, 2 Rebounds and
1 Block in today's outing.
Carissa Marthy hit a
career high 12 points (6-7 FG, 0-1 FT) today, marking the 2nd time this season the Junior has scored double digits in a game. Marthy also recorded a team leading
12 Rebounds in today's matchup.
Warner shot a
season best 49% going
24-49 overall against the Rams, while going 6-15 (40.0%, FT%) from the FT line, and 0-5 from beyond the arc. The Royals once against displayed their strength attacking the basket, scoring 32 of their points inside the paint.
The Royals will set their sights to New Orleans as they look to start 2026 on a high note as they face-off with Loyola University (LA) on Friday.
