LAKELAND, FL - In an intense SUN Conference basketball showdown, the Warner University Royals were narrowly defeated by the Southeastern Fire with a final score of 77-71 on February 15, 2025, at The Furnace. Despite the Royals' determined comeback in the second period, they were unable to overcome the early lead established by Southeastern.
The game kicked off with Warner University taking an early initiative, highlighted by a jump shot by
Johnathan Joseph. Another early contribution came from
Jamal Norris with a 3-pointer, setting a competitive tone for the Royals. However, Southeastern quickly responded, with Kyonte Thomas landing several 3-pointers, propelling the Fire to a significant lead of 11 points in the first half. By halftime, Southeastern had secured a 50-37 lead.
In the latter half of the game, Warner University made spirited efforts to bridge the gap. Blaize Darling, in particular, exhibited a stellar performance, contributing significantly with layups, free throws, and a commendable performance on the defensive front, leading the team with 7 rebounds and 4 assists, alongside his 13 points.
Jack Voth was the top scorer for the Royals, adding 22 points to his name.
Joshua Glesil also made crucial plays, including a three-pointer that brought Warner within striking distance.
