LAKE WALES, FL - On March 4, 2025, the Warner University Royals softball team clinched two consecutive victories against the Dordt (IA) Defenders at Daly Field in Lake Wales, Fla. The Royals, demonstrating resilience and strategic prowess, recorded scores of 8-5 in the first game and 4-3 in the second, enhancing their season record to 5-7.
Key players emerged throughout the games, with contributions spanning from multi-run efforts to critical RBI triples.
Samantha Berube and
Grace Derstine were standout performers, each driving in multiple runs across the day. Derstine's notable three-RBI triple in the bottom of the 6th inning of game one was pivotal, propelling the Royals to recover and ultimately secure the lead.
The second game of the day featured a dramatic walk-off victory, catalyzed by an error from the Defenders' pitcher in the 7th inning. This error allowed Derstine to reach first safely, enabling Danielle Martin to sprint home for the winning run.
