Warner Falls to Governors State in Straight Sets

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University men's volleyball team fought hard but ultimately fell in straight sets to a strong Governors State squad on Thursday afternoon at home. The Royals were unable to overcome the Jaguars' efficient attack, dropping the match 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 22-25).

Governors State (15-4) came into the match with momentum and showcased their offensive firepower, hitting an impressive .293 as a team. Warner (5-8, 4-3) put up a fight, improving as the match progressed, but couldn't find a way to slow down the Jaguars' attack.

Match Recap The opening set saw the Jaguars take control early, capitalizing on Warner's attack errors to build a commanding lead. The Royals struggled to find their rhythm, hitting .250 in the set, while Governors State was efficient. The visitors closed out the set 25-19.

Warner responded with more competitive play in the second set, keeping pace with the Jaguars in the early stages. Despite a stronger effort, the Royals were unable to contain Governors State's consistent attack, falling 25-17.

The final set was the Royals' strongest, as they battled to stay within reach. Key kills from Darion Graham and Donovan Winsley helped keep Warner in contention, but Governors State pulled away late to take the set 25-22 and seal the match victory.
