Royals Show Fight but Fall on the Road at Georgetown

The Warner University football team battled hard on Saturday afternoon but ultimately came up short against Georgetown College (KY), dropping a 45-14 decision in Toyota Stadium.

Game Recap

The Royals fell behind early after a defensive score by the Tigers but continued to compete throughout the contest. Despite being shut out in the first half, Warner found ways to generate offense after the break.

Defensively, the Royals created one of the highlight moments of the afternoon when Reginald Jones stepped in front of a Georgetown pass and sprinted 50 yards for a touchdown midway through the third quarter. The pick-six gave Warner a jolt of energy and cut into the Tigers' momentum.

In the fourth quarter, Warner's offense found the end zone thanks to Jamarian Robinson, who powered in from six yards out to cap off a determined Royals drive.

By the Numbers

  • The Royals finished with 334 yards of total offense, closely edging Georgetown in overall production (339).

  • Quarterback Michael Ryan threw for 245 yards, connecting with multiple receivers to move the chains through the air.

  • Deejay Grimes led the Warner ground attack with 14 carries for 50 yards, showing consistency against a tough Tiger front.

  • Warner's defense forced two turnovers, highlighted by Jones' interception return for a score.

Coach's Outlook

Despite the final score, there were bright spots the Royals can build on moving forward — especially in the passing game, improved second-half execution, and defensive resilience. The emphasis this week will be on limiting turnovers and finishing drives as Warner continues its early-season slate.

Up Next

Warner returns home September 27th to take on University of the Cumberlands, aiming to bounce back and capture its first win of the season in front of the Royals' faithful.
