RECAP: Royals Late Surge Not Enough in SUN Conference Showdown Against St. Thomas, 80-78

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner Men's Basketball put together a strong offensive performance on Saturday afternoon but came up just short in an 80–78 loss to St. Thomas University in a SUN Conference matchup inside the Turner Athletic Center. The Royals competed down to the final possessions in a tightly contested conference battle.

Jack Voth delivered a standout performance for Warner, leading all scorers with 26 points on an efficient 8-of-13 shooting effort. Voth knocked down one three-pointer and was steady at the free-throw line, converting 9-of-12 attempts to keep the Royals within reach throughout the contest.

Warner was active on the glass, with Bryson Castillo and Seth Childers each grabbing seven rebounds. Childers also played a key role as a facilitator, sharing team-high assist honors with Voth as the pair dished out three assists apiece.

Defensively, Childers led the Royals with two steals, while TreyShawn Howard and Jamal Norris each recorded a block to help protect the paint. As a team, Warner shot 44.3 percent from the field (27-of-61), 40.9 percent from three-point range (9-of-22), and an impressive 83.3 percent from the free-throw line (15-of-18).

The Royals now hit the road for their next SUN Conference contest, traveling to Lakeland, Florida, to face Southeastern University on Wednesday, January 14th, at 7:30 p.m.
