GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Warner Track & Field opened their 2026 Indoor Season with a bang in Gainesville, Fla. at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational which was highlighted by
Blessing Ogundiran setting the 2026 NAIA #1 time, SUN Conference record time, and
broke the Warner Women's record for the 60m Dash.
Ogundiran's performance set the
new NAIA top time at 7.25 seconds, breaking the previous best time by 2-tenths of a second. The Sophomore's top tier performance also
broke the SUN Conference and Warner Program record, which were both set by Warner athlete Nicole Johnson with a 7.44s time in the 2022-'23 season. Ogundiran's time also qualifies as an
NAIA A Standard worthy performance, which qualifies her for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in March. Ogundiran's run had her finishing 4-tenths of a second ahead of 2nd place in the event, which was set by fellow Royal,
Jahhi Clarke-Broomfield with a
7.65s performance.
The
Men's 4x400m Relay team also had a stellar day,
finishing 1st in a 12-team Final with a
3:22.23 time which was good enough to finish nearly 4-tenths of a second ahead of 2nd place finisher Embry-Riddle (FL). The 4x400m Relay team consisted of
Timothy Brown,
Ryan Dube,
Daishaun Gossett,
Kaleb Roth,
Nigel Smith and
Omar Vazquez.
Royals standout Freshman Amirah Johnson earned
Top 5 Finishes in both the
Women's 1 Mile and
Women's 800m on Thursday. Johnson ran a
5:14.49 placing her
5th in the 1 Mile and
2:27.92 to place
4th in the 800m, which was only about 2.5 seconds off the podium.
