RECAP: Harrison Records Double-Double as Royals Secure 1st SUN Conference Win of the Season

LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Warner Women's Basketball team secured their first SUN Conference win of the season on Saturday over New College of Florida 58-51.

After a tight defensive battle in the 1st half that saw the Royals down 25-23, Warner took advantage of excellent halftime adjustments to score nearly half of their points in the 3rd Qtr. The Royals strong start to the half led to Warner's largest lead of the game of 14 entering the final period of play. In true SUN Conference fashion, New College refused to give up without a fight, but the Royals lead was too much to overcome as Warner secured their first SUN Conference victory of the season with a 58-51 final score.

Chanelle Harrison had her best game of the season Saturday as she recorded her 1st double-double of the season, scoring 15 points (7-13 FG, and recording a game high 16 rebounds. Both are new career-highs for the Senior from Tampa. Harrison's 16 rebounds ties the most rebounds in a single game this season with Carissa Marthy's 16 rebound game against Thomas University on October 29th.

Aleyna Sherman never left the court on Saturday as she scored her most points in a single game this season. Scoring a season high 21 points while shooting 50% on the day going 8-for-16 from the field, 3-for-10 from 3-point range, and went 2-4 from the FT line. Sherman's 3 made 3-pointers Saturday also set a new season high for the Junior guard.

The Royals shot 21-59 (35.6%) overall, 5-20 (25.0%) from beyond the 3-point arc and went 11-20 (55.0%) from the FT Line. Warner once again showed their strength attacking the basket as the Royals recorded nearly half of their points, 26, inside the paint.

Warner will look to build upon this win as they continue SUN Conference play next week when they travel to rival Webber International University on Wednesday.
