RECAP: Five Royals Score Double Digits in Tight Battle with Webber International, Falling 85-80

BABSON PARK, Fla. - The Warner Men's Basketball team fought hard in a tightly contested contest with the Webber International University Warriors Wednesday night. Despite their best efforts, the Royals fell 85-80 in the latest edition of the Crooked Lake Rivalry.

In a back-and-forth game that saw 4 lead changes and 7 ties, neither the Royals nor the Warriors were ever able to gain a double digit lead in today's matchup. Despite going down by 8 with about 5 minutes left in the game, the largest lead for either team in the game, the Royals refused to go down without a fight cutting the lead to 3 with less than a minute remaining in regulation. As the Royals were forced to foul late, the Warriors were able to add to their total on the Free Throw line to pull away by two possessions securing the 85-80 victory.

All five of the Royals starters on Wednesday scored double digits in the physical matchup that saw 41 combined fouls. Bryson Castillo lead the Royals in scoring with 20 points going 9-for-15 overall. Castillo also recorded 8 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assist while playing 39 of the total 40 minutes in Wednesday's game.

Jack Voth had another solid outing, scoring 16 points and finding himself 1 rebound shy of recording a double-double with 9. The Junior recorded a new season high of 6 assists and added 1 steal to his stat line playing all 40 minutes against the Warriors.

Warner shot 26-57 (45.6%) overall, 6-20 (30.0%) from beyond the arc, and went 22-31 (71.0%) from the Free Throw line against Webber International. The Royals showed their strength inside and attacking the basket as they scored nearly half of their points inside the paint with 38.

The Royals will regroup before returning home Satruday to host College of Coastal Georgia in hopes to split the season series with the Mariners.
