RECAP: Royals Have Record Breaking Weekend at the Alachua County Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Warner Track and Field had another record breaking weekend at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center Inviational that saw 2 program records set and 1 program record tied. 

Blessing Ogundiran has done it again. Ogundiran ran a 7.22-second 60-meter Dash on Saturday winning the event and breaking the Warner, SUN Conference, and NCCAA Records in the event and setting a new top time in the NAIA this season for the second consecutive week. Last week, the Freshman from Nigeria ran a record breaking 7.25-second 60M during the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in the same facility. Her performance earned her national recognition as she received SUN Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the WeekUSTFCCCA NAIA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, NCCAA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and NAIA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honors last week. 

Nathan Dawes had a record breaking day of his own with a Top 5 Finish in the Men's Heptathlon with 4,008 points. The Sophomore's performance set a new Warner record in the event which was highlighted by a 1st place finish in the High Jump finishing at 1.93m, a 2nd place finish in the 60M Dash with a 7.14 second run, and a 3rd place finish in Long Jump recording a distance of 6.36m. 

Freshman Dylan McArty set a new Personal Record and tied the Warner program record in the Men's 60M Hurdles this weekend. McArty recorded a 8.31-second time during the event's prelim to set the new program record. Jahhi Clarke-Broomfield earned two Top 5 finishes this weekend, including a podium finish in the 60M Dash. The Junior ran a 7.60-second 60M Dash placing her 3rd in the event and also finished 4th in the Women's 200M Run with a 24.96-second time.

Royals Indoor Track and Field will return to Gainesville next weekend, January 30th - 31st, for The Legends of Alachua County Invitational as they look to continue their incredible record-breaking season.
