LAKE WALES, Fla. – Entering her sixth season at the helm, Head Coach Meagan Smith has guided the Warner University softball program through a fall season centered on growth, unity, and purpose as the Royals prepare for the 2026 campaign.
Following a 2025 season that saw Warner finish 13–27 overall and 6–18 in SUN Conference play, the Royals used the offseason as a time to reset and refocus. Coach Smith emphasized intentional team chemistry throughout the fall, creating an environment that prioritized connection both on and off the field.
That foundation is rooted in the program's season theme and Bible verse, Philippians 4:13. Smith highlighted the verse as a reminder of empowerment on and off the field, crediting the team's strength, confidence, and resilience to their faith and trust in the Lord.
"We want our players to understand where their strength truly comes from," Smith said. "That empowerment carries over into how we compete, how we support each other, and how we represent Warner University."
In addition to the season theme, the Royals selected Colossians 3:23 as a guiding verse for the 2026 campaign. The verse serves as a daily reminder to approach every practice, pitch, and opportunity with purpose and excellence—working wholeheartedly in all things as a reflection of their faith, both on and off the field.
Newcomer to Watch
One new face expected to make an immediate impact is sophomore transfer shortstop Hannah Wilen - Sophomore SS, who joins the Royals from Trinity Baptist College. A native of Ormond Beach, Florida, Wilen brings energy and consistency to the middle infield. During her time at Trinity Baptist, she posted an .872 fielding percentage, recording 65 assists, five double plays, and 71 putouts.
"Hannah plays hard, competes with intentionality, and brings a spark that's fun to watch," Smith added. "She fits exactly what we're building."
Returning Players to Watch
Keirsten Garman, Junior RHP - Entering her third season with the Royals, Keirsten Garman has continued to develop into one of Warner's most reliable arms. After stepping into the spotlight during the 2025 campaign, Garman showcased her ability to compete at a high level in the circle. Her determination, composure, and growing experience help set the tone for the pitching staff, while her leadership continues to stand out within the program. With confidence built from past success and a competitive edge every time she takes the ball, Garman is poised to be one of the top pitchers to watch in the SUN Conference.
Alisha Wagoner, Senior Middle Infielder - Set for a powerful return, Alisha Wagoner enters the 2026 season determined to make her statement after missing the 2025 campaign due to injury. A high-intensity competitor, Wagoner brings energy to every at-bat and defensive rep, combining explosive pop at the plate with a sharp, instinctive glove in the middle infield. Her high softball IQ consistently puts her in the right place at the right time, while her experience and leadership provide a steady presence for the Royals. Healthy and motivated, Wagoner's impact on both sides of the ball makes her a key name to watch in the SUN Conference.
The Royals will officially open the 2026 season on the road, traveling to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to face the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles in a doubleheader on Tuesday, February 5, with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. contest.
With a renewed sense of purpose, strengthened chemistry, and a roster blending impactful newcomers with proven leadership, Warner Softball looks to turn preparation into progress as the 2026 season gets underway.
