PREVIEW: Royals Set for Pair of SUN Conference Matchups at Ave Maria and hosting St. Thomas

1/5/2026 1:39:00 PM

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University Women's Basketball team turns its focus to SUN Conference play this week with a two-game stretch, beginning on the road and concluding at home. The Royals will travel to Ave Maria, Fla., to face the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University on Wednesday, January 7, at 5:30 p.m., before returning to the Turner Athletic Center to host the St. Thomas University Bobcats on Saturday, January 10, at 2 p.m.

Warner enters the week looking to regroup after a challenging road contest against Loyola University in New Orleans, where the Royals fell 94–57. With conference play underway, the upcoming matchups present important opportunities for Warner to reset, respond, and build momentum within the SUN standings.

The Royals open the SUN Conference stretch on the road against Ave Maria, a familiar conference opponent known for its physicality and disciplined play. Warner will look to emphasize defensive intensity and improved execution on the offensive end as they aim to secure a road conference win.

Warner returns home Saturday afternoon to host St. Thomas in another key SUN Conference
matchup. Playing on their home floor, the Royals will look to feed off the energy of the Turner Athletic Center crowd while continuing to grow in conference play against a competitive Bobcats squad.

With two SUN Conference games on the schedule, Warner has the opportunity to turn the page and establish rhythm as the heart of conference play begins. The Royals look to respond with urgency, discipline, and energy as they face Ave Maria and St. Thomas this week.
